Funerals

St. Mary’s Church has been here in the parish for generations supporting families through the death of a loved one, perhaps one of the most difficult times in life.  A Church of England funeral service is an opportunity for family and friends to express their grief and to remember and celebrate a life in a way that gives great comfort and hope.
Rev. Andrew will meet with the family to discuss all your requirements such that the funeral service is tailored to your needs and preferences.

A service in church gives more time and space, and options for more music and other elements, however, funeral services with a Church of England minister can be held in church and/or a crematorium or chapel or other location.

Next of kin should first contact your chosen Funeral Director and simply speak to them about a service with a Church of England minister.  Rev Jane who conducts most of the funerals at St. Mary’s Church can be contacted on 07414 082574 or via the contact form.

Click here for the helpful Church of England funerals website, which has a wealth of information about the service itself, what makes it special, and all you need to know about organising and attending a funeral.

The church and members of our pastoral team are also here to offer support in bereavement after the service and for as long as is needed.  Contact Rev. Jane for more details.

Note that the churchyard at St. Mary’s is closed for burials in new graves, however, burials are permitted in an existing family plot if space is available.  Burials of ashes following a cremation is always possible in our Garden of Remembrance for residents of the parish of Partington & Carrington and an inscription can be added to the memorial stones.
