Who's Who?

Rev. Andrew Knight
Priest-in-Charge at St. Mary's Church

My former career was in the sciences, as a research chemist and latterly as a manager in a scientific company, before God grew within me a calling for ordination and the work of a parish priest. Over the years my passions for ministry have focused on seeing people come to a mature, personal faith and a vibrant and fulfilling relationship with Jesus, and to encourage and enable the God-given gifts of others and empower them for Christian service, worship and witness. I have delighted in helping all ages engage with the Bible especially a younger generation in church and schools, and helping to build faithful and diverse communities, whose members are pastorally committed to each other and who seek liberation for the poor and marginalised in society. In my spare time I enjoy adventure sports including hiking, skiing, potholing and just recently indoor skydiving!  Yet at home I’m most relaxed with a good book, having friends round for dinner or a trip the local pub for a pint of real ale.

Rev. Lucy Brewster
Curate at St. Mary's Church

I am married to David, and we have three grown-up children and a daughter-in-law. In my free time I love going for really long walks and spending time with family and friends. I equally enjoy curling up at home with a good book, listening to music, and tap dancing. I’m not very good, but it’s great fun! Before I followed God’s call to ordained ministry, I was a shop assistant, a music teacher, a stay at home mum, a primary school TA, HLTA, and then teacher. My last job was teaching RE in a Community Junior school. I’m delighted to be joining St. Mary’s and the community of Partington and Carrington. One of the things I have always loved is getting alongside people, getting to know them, and learning together more about God’s love for us, and seeing how he wants to help us to grow and flourish. Everyone is unique and special, but we don’t always feel that way. Helping people (and being helped by them) to know their place in God’s heart; the gifts and potential they have, is both a privilege and a joy. When we discover together just how much of a difference knowing Jesus can make to our lives – there’s nothing better!
